Going out without alcohol shouldn’t mean being handed a lemonade while everyone else gets the interesting drinks.

In Peterborough, there are now several places offering more than a standard soft drink.

The choice ranges from proper mocktails and alcohol-free beer to a non-alcoholic bottomless brunch.

The catch is that prices, stock and the exact drinks available can change, so it’s worth checking before you set off.

Here are the strongest menu-led options from a current Peterborough check.

1. Katana, Broadway best for a proper mocktail

Katana’s cocktail menu lists six mocktails, including a Yuzu Bomb at £6.25, plus Katana Punch, Cherry Coke-Tail, December Rain, Mango Colada and a Virgin Mojito at £5.75 each.

There are also several Virgin Mojito flavours, giving non-drinkers more choice than the usual single option buried at the bottom of a drinks list.

The venue at 44 Broadway serves Japanese Pan-Asian food, so this is one of the better choices if you want the full dinner-and-drinks experience rather than a quick replacement for a pint.

2. Las Iguanas, Church Street best for a group night out

Las Iguanas at 7-8 Church Street offers mocktails, other alcohol-free choices, tapas and main courses, with outdoor seating and walk-ins available.

Its Peterborough page also advertises a main course with a soft drink or mocktail for £10.

The restaurant runs a non-alcoholic bottomless brunch with mocktails, too, although the page checked doesn’t give the brunch price.

That makes it a strong option for a group where some people are drinking and others aren’t.

3. The Whittle Way, Central Square — best range of alcohol-free bottles and cans

The Whittle Way has the broadest clearly listed alcohol-free range found in the check. It includes Heineken 0.0%, Doom Bar Zero 0.0%, Guinness 0.0%, Old Mout Berries & Cherries 0.0% and Thatchers Zero.

There’s also Freixenet 0.0% alcohol-free sparkling wine, alongside drinks such as Appletiser, Fentimans Rose Lemonade and Bottlegreen Elderflower.

Prices aren’t shown on the drinks page, so ask before ordering if you’re keeping an eye on the bill.

4. The Brewery Tap, Westgate — worth asking at the bar

The Brewery Tap at 80 Westgate confirms that mocktails are available, alongside cocktails, soft drinks, hot drinks and food.

The public drinks page doesn’t list the mocktails or their prices, so this is a place to ask what’s available that day rather than arrive expecting a particular drink.

5. The Harrier, Gunthorpe Road — a wider low-and-no range

The Harrier at 184 Gunthorpe Road lists low-and-no-alcohol ciders, mocktails, beers and wines.

It doesn’t publish individual products or prices on the page checked, so treat it as a venue to ring ahead and check rather than a guaranteed menu recommendation.

The honest limit here is taste: these are menu-based picks, not a blind test or a claim that one drink is Peterborough’s definitive winner.

Katana looks strongest for made-to-order mocktails, The Whittle Way for range, and Las Iguanas for a social meal or brunch.

If you’re mainly trying to keep the cost down, a supermarket bottle or something made at home will usually beat a £5.75 mocktail.

 But for a night out, the better test is simple: can you sit with friends, order something that feels like a choice, and not be treated as an afterthought?
